Crazy night

So after finishing university for the day last Thursday, I decided to make a night of it, and me and my flatmate invited my friend Simon and her friend Joe round, and with 2 xbox's and 2 tv's we decided to play some Halo online. Ahh - the ever so frustrating student life. After our productive session which lasted until about 3 in the morning, I decided bed was a good idea, and downed my 4th glass of Disaronno and coke before hitting the sack (Yes, I am a light weight).

Not actually a bad move - no hangover, and Friday ended up being the opposite of Thursday: Productive! So Thursday I played games for hours, and on Friday (albeit after getting up at about 12.30pm) I decided to start revision for my exams in May. The oh-so-riveting world of LAND LAW. You never appreciate the whole conveyancing process and the various ways you can use a property until you study them for a year. Funny how the only quote I can remember from my whole year is 'Possession is nine-tenths of the law' - and that's only because my manager where I work said it to me! Suppose that's reason enough to start revision early.

End of a good week!

I went back to Grimsby yesterday with my sister to see my parents and of course my dogs who are adorable. Laura has introduced me to Grey's Anatomy, which I think looks like an excellent series and thus she has agreed to lend me series one, so will have a lot of fun watching that over the next week!

So far, from what I've seen, its really enjoyable and reminds me a little bit of the series Scrubs, and when I was watching the first episode I was reminded of the conversation between J.D and Elliot, where Elliot says "Can't we just go home, and put on our PJ's, and watch Grey's Anatomy?" In response, J.D says "Oh, I do love that show. It's like they've been watching our lives and then just put it on TV." There is definitely a difference in the tone of the programmes, with Scrubs focusing on a more comical view of the interns experiences whereas Grey's Anatomy is more dramatic. Whilst watching Grey's Anatomy, I felt like a complete expert on the behaviours of doctors (which of course, I'm definitely NOT). I say this because when watching George promise a woman her husband would be absolutely fine and guaranteeing it,  I couldn't help but cringe both internally and externally,  not only from a legal view point (we learn about this in a lovely module at University called Tort) but also from it happening in Scrubs too. Of course, later in that episode the man unfortunately dies, resulting in the woman being completely shocked and grief-stricken.
To sum up, I love both series and look forward to becoming more familiar with Grey's Anatomy! Onto my next obsession!

Since my lovely boyfriend bought me Game of Thrones book 1 of the series A Song of Ice and Fire at Christmas, I have really REALLY wanted to watch the series! I finished reading this book at the end of January (it took a month because I also had 3 Law assignments due in at that time) and I'm now on the second book (which has also taken a month to read due to having 2 more assignments due in in Feb). I lent the first book to my sister because it was so good. I think now that all my assignments are over, I might have to watch this series over the next week along with Grey's Anatomy, just to maintain my sanity!

Visit from my sister!

I went up steep hill in Lincoln (commonly known as the hill of death) earlier to meet my sister who is staying with me for a few days. For anyone who hasn't been to Lincoln, steep hill is, as its name suggests, incredibly steep. I thought this picture might be quite suitable in describing it, for anyone who is a geek and a Lord of the Rings lover like me.

I originally found one on facebook referring to 'Steep Hill' in Lincoln, and not just 'a' steep hill, however this proved difficult in finding and so the current one will have to suffice!

So I had to meet her, help her carry her stuff back down this steep hill, and in return she has dyed my hair, so all is not lost. We made an AMAZING spaghetti bolognese which was ACE and had carrots in it (odd, I know, but its the way we like it!).

I bought the new limited edition of SSX last week, which arrived on Friday; however I was unable to test it as I live in a block of flats (student accomodation) and the damn office had shut by the time I got back so I couldn't get my post. Pain in the butt, since I had planned to go on it over the weekend, so I went and picked that up today, and have played it, and I will admit that the game is excellent HOWEVER I was gutted when I found out it doesn't have a local 2 player mode. Its one and only failure in my eyes, as I have bought all of the previous SSX games (On Tour in my opinion was the worst) and not having local multiplayer is an OUTRAGE. From what I've played so far though, the quality of the game is generally good and enjoyable, however it took some getting used to with regards to the control system (as I used to play the others on PS2 and now I have an Xbox). Also, it redeemed itself slightly in that you can link up with your friends online which I think I will thoroughly enjoy. Overall, from my limited experience so far, its a good game, and I think I'll be able to put quite a few hours into it!

Shiny New Blog

So, I created this blog at the suggestion of my older sister, Laura. We decided that because we live in different places now that this would be an easy way to know about the things going on in each other's lives.

My name is Katherine (but I go by the name of Katie) and I study Law at the University of Lincoln in England. I live here in Lincoln and Laura lives an hour away from me on the train. The main difficulty with visiting is that we both have jobs, and both work on weekends, and I have Uni during the week.

I'll mainly be using this blog to express opinions on random things, probably have some crazy ranting moments, writing about unproductive days spent on the Xbox360 instead of studying Law as I should be doing.. The usual.

I'm trying not to write too much here, as I'm sure it will all be revealed eventually in future posts.
